Grant Program Overview
The Lincoln Community Foundation was established by the City of Lincoln in 2003. The City provided the endowment to initiate an investment fund. Interest earned from this investment is used to award grants to local nonprofit groups that better our community.
Since 2005, the LCF has granted over $300,000 for 196 projects that enrich our community.
The Foundation works through a rigorous grant review process overseen by the Board of Directors. This approach allows the organization to guarantee both impartiality and a high level of professionalism in the grant adjudication process.
All grant applicants are required to submit a detailed grant application for a specific project. Applications are carefully reviewed by the LCF Board of Directors and monitored for compliance.
The Foundation has established two grant programs; an annual grant is available once per year, and a mini-grant is available at all times.
- September 1st — Grant Applications become available.
- September 30th — Grant Applications are due by 5 PM, no exceptions.
- End-of-year — Grant Recipients are announced.
- January of following year — Funds are awarded.
- Mid-Year and Year-End — Grant Summary Reports must be submitted.
All grant funds must be used for the approved purpose within the year the funds are awarded. A Mid-Year and final Grant Summary Report must be submitted to LCF indicating how the project is progressing and how grant funds have been spent. Any unused funds must be returned to LCF.
Mini Grant Program Overview
The Board accepts mini-grant applications worth a maximum of $750 throughout the year. Mini-grant application packets may be downloaded from the link below or picked up at the Lincoln City Hall, City Manager’s Office. The Board meets once per month and reviews any mini-grant applications which have been submitted.
