The Assistance League of Greater Placer Goes Shopping with Families

Shopping with Claire

This year to date, the Assistance League has clothed 201 students in the Lincoln area with help from the Lincoln Community Foundation. Each child and their parent or guardian attend a shopping event staffed by volunteers from the Assistance League’s local (Greater Placer) chapter.

This is a fun event and families show their gratitude with lots of hugs and kisses. The child has the opportunity to buy new clothes and shoes, to look like their peers, and this makes a positive difference in the quality of their school year.

Here are some statements shared by Lincoln families:

“This is the first time I have ever had new clothes and shoes. I always have to share with my brothers.”

“I have been homeless for so long and have had nothing. Now I get to go to a school and look like a princess!”

“You are all amazing. We would be lost without your love and generosity.”
