I’m involved with a small group of residents who have organized a fundraiser for a family in need. Do we qualify for a grant from the LCF?

The LCF accepts grant applications from tax-exempt non-profit organizations, non-incorporated groups with a fiscal sponsor, faith based organizations demonstrating a social service program and open to the public, and government or education entities. We do not grant to individuals for fundraising events or for applicants requesting personal assistance.

I want to apply for an annual grant and a mini-grant. May I complete one application and request a total of $3,750?

You may submit one grant application per project per year. Each grant application is considered separately for discrete selection of the projects impacting the greatest good. Each application will include a project budget and description along with other items. It is recommended an organization plan for how to best approach their grant application submission in terms of timing throughout the year.

I’d like to apply for a $3,000 annual grant but my project is held over the summer and it’s January. Can you make an exception since I missed the window to apply in September?

One of the main duties of the Lincoln Community Foundation is to fiscally manage resources in order to sustain funds available to grant to community based organizations. In doing so, we must maintain a planned budget consistent with the timing of our investment proceeds. We are not able to make timing exceptions in our granting.

I’m confused about which grant I should apply for. It’s August, my project is in December. Should I apply for the mini-grant or the annual grant? I could really use the full $3,000.

You can apply for a mini-grant (up to $750) any time throughout the year. Our Board meets once per month to review mini-grant applications and make decisions on which applications to grant. The annual grant application is available only throughout the month of September of each year. Annual grant applications are only accepted until 5 PM on September 30th. Awardees are announced at the end of the year and funds become available at the beginning of the year. For your December project annual grant funding would not take-place until January, so we would recommend you plan a year in advance or apply for a mini-grant allowing two months for us to process, review, vote on, and possibly fund.
